Pyrenean mountain dogs / Great Pyrenees

In this section you will find our dogs, which currently form a pack of livestock guardian dogs. With 8 members in total, the young pack is consisting of one male and two females imported directly from the Pyrenees, raised on a traditional farm of sheep; one male and one female from a long-time experienced breeder from Slovakia (with sheep from 8 weeks old); and three males from our first litter (with sheep from 3 weeks old). This young pack of dogs is protecting the sheep 24 hours a day, alternating day and night shifts.

During the summer seasons, a part of the pack is used for protection in their natural high mountain habitat, at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. There have been no losses or injuries of sheep from predators under their watch.

Soleil monde, “sunny world” in translation, is really our sunshine with an extremely cheerful nature. He was born on a traditional farm of sheep directly in the Pyrenean mountains and has spent his time with sheep from the first day he was born. He is a very quiet dog, which is very desirable with sheep, because he does not make unnecessary noise that could stress the sheep, which also affects their lactation. However, people claim that sheep are generally used to the barking of these dogs and do not care at all. Imagine, however, if someone was constantly screaming next to you, wouldn´t it get on your nerves over time, or would you even be able to tell if there was a real danger? So this dog is great at exactly that, and he knows when it is actually worth of barking, which impresses me a lot. Solo is a dog that likes people very much, which is also the reason why we chose this breed in the first place. We wanted to breed dogs that would not cause loss of livestock, but at the same time we do not have to worry about these dogs attacking a person, such as a passing tourist etc., as long as they are not literally crossing the line to their fenced territory or do not threaten the herd. But in this case, we are also sure that they would detain the person first and keep them in one place before they decide to actually act. I assure you, however, that with their expression and size, no one would even decide to do so.

Soleil is a really nice dog and is very popular with people and sheep. He was once the leader of our pack together with Jayla as a couple, until he was outgrown by our other dog, who currently holds the first place in the hierarchy as a male.
